Weekend Walks in
MGF is not currently conducting guided walks into Kamananui Valley in Moanalua on Oahu. Contact the DLNR Division of State Parks, 587-0300, for permission to enter the valley and hike the trail. You may wish to purchase a self guided booklet from MGF, A Walk Into the Past, for $5 at the office M-F, 8-4 or pay $2 shipping.
Walk Preparation: The 3-mile round-trip walk takes approximately 4 hours, traveling on a dirt trail at a leisurely pace. You will need comfortable shoes, outdoor clothing, light rain gear, mosquito repellent, water and lunch. Restroom facilities are located at the park where the walk begins and ends. There are no facilities along the way.
Rules of the Valley: please follow the rules to ensure the safety of everyone who visits: hunting, camping, fires, and alcoholic beverages are not allowed; your litter must be packed out; and you may pick fruits and flowers but please do not uproot or damage any plants while doing so.
