Take action for the environment and enter Moanalua Gardens Foundation's (MGF's) annual Hawaii Needs Care Contest! Each year, MGF offers an award to one school, or one grade level in a school, for completing an outstanding project that helps Hawaii's environment.
By February 1, submit a 1-2 page project summary describing the work that is being done and how it benefits Hawaii. Judging will take place during the month of March. Judges will rank each project according to the following criteria, which should be included in your summary:
- level of involvement of students (number of hours or days committed and the number of students participating)
- level of involvement of others in your school or community
- awareness generated by the project (within your school and community)
- plans to continue involvement in the future
Each participating school will receive a certificate acknowledging their project. The winning entrant will receive a $500 award and a commemorative koa plaque.
Summaries should include the title of the project and the school's name, address, phone number and contact person.
